Has the recent rapid increase in fuel prices frazzled your nerves and emptied your pockets? There’s no need to fear, the Internet is near.

For the mere cost of a decent Internet connection, one can easily become a globe-trotting, continent-hopping, jet-setting, world traveller. Don’t believe me? Well, let me be your virtual tour guide for the next few minutes to prove it.

One of my favourite cyber-destinations for over a decade now as been the British Tours Ltd. website, www.britishtours.com. Talk about an opportunity to visit almost every significant historical landmark in Great Britain, from Stonehenge to Abbey Road, all from the comfort of your own home!

The site cannot be beat, and if your finances allow, the folks at British Tours would love to help you plan a real life tour of Great Britain. I personally believe that they offer the most “bang” for your buck when it comes to touring that country.

Interested in learning more about Egypt? If you’ve always wanted to tour the pyramids by camel but can’t afford the expense of going there in person, you can do it virtually. Just surf on over to www.egyptvoyager.com/virtualtours.htm and you’ll have easy access to over a half-dozen popular locations.

Now let’s take our virtual travels to the extreme.

How about mind-blowing, visually stunning access to the new Seven Wonders of the World? Just hop on over to www.panoramas.dk/7-wonders. You will be very impressed with what you encounter there. You must have the latest version of the Apple Quicktime Viewer to access the images, but that’s not a problem since the program is available free at Apple.com.

The full-screen, ultra-clear images make you feel like you are right there on the spot, and being able to look around in 360 degrees is absolutely incredible.

YOUR GUIDE FOR THE RIDE
Now I’d like to introduce you to the “Indiana Jones” of worldwide travel.
Mr. Peter Greenberg is the man with the key to all of the money-saving secrets and best deals when travelling the globe in real life.

His website, www.petergreenberg.com, is almost undoubtedly the most comprehensive travel resource on the Internet. The site is never boring; it’s always overflowing with valuable information, and best of all it doesn’t cost a dime to learn all there is know about travel in all forms and fashion.
Even if you never leave town, the amount of travel information that is available on the site, compliments of Mr. Greenberg, will turn you into a travel expert readily able to assist family members, friends, and even strangers in planning their future trips.

Another popular travel expert is Mr. Rick Steves. He focuses primarily on travel throughout Europe, and the man has been considered an expert on the subject for over 30 years. You can visit the Rick Steves’ Europe site at www.ricksteves.com, and I guarantee you will not be disappointed with what you find.

Finally, try this little tip: hop on over to Google.com, and in the search box type something along the lines of “things to do in Edmonton.” You just might be surprised at what you find.

You never know what kind of information you might uncover that leads you to an exciting adventure in your own backyard.
